Possibly the biggest success story of any modern day footwear. The trainer has its roots firmly embedded in the early sports footwear of the early 1900’s; with major brands such as Adidas not appearing until the 1920’s and Nike as late as the 1970’s.

From the 1950’s on the athletic shoe, along with sports clothing, crossed over from the track and into mainstream youth culture, and then fashion.
