The amount of work involved, including the very expensive hand finish applied to the denim has created a premium category of jean with prices to match. Companies that can expertly finish a jean are rare, almost like artists, their work is prized by the big designer brands as getting the correct, authentic finish on denim is not easy.

They say there's nothing as bad as a cheap suit. Well maybe, but badly pre-washed jeans take some beating! Especially when a complex system of washes and effects are being applied, as in vintage or antique wash jeans.

The terms vintage and antique wash are general and the look of the finished product will vary greatly between different jeans and brands. All jeans in these categories will look heavily used.
