As you may know, the Fashion year is split up into two distinct seasons, spring/summer and autumn/winter. Although the seasons are slightly more blurred by the way we live today, largely in a controlled environment; as far as fashion is concerned there are certain core garments and looks which will make up the corner stones of each season's wardrobe.

New Season - new wardrobe

The spring/summer season starting straight after the winter sales is a great time to review your summer wardrobe. While not quite yet time to put away any heavy winter clothes, it is an ideal opportunity to sort out last summer’s clothes, choosing what to keep and what to ditch. All of us have old favourites which we can't bear to get rid of, it's just in our nature. Be ruthless, if you haven't worn it in the past year the chances are you won't. As you go through make a note of areas you feel need to be looked at.

As soon as you've sorted out the old summer clothes, and thrown out the rubbish, you're now left with the starting point for this year's summer wardrobe. This will consist of any of last summers favourites you are happy to keep, plus any non-seasonal or lighter weight pieces that will work well for the summer. Once you have established the existing core of your new summer wardrobe it is a simple step to review it and decide on which areas require improvement.

Summer clothes - smarten up the key areas

There are many key areas which form a fully rounded wardrobe, both perennial and seasonal pieces. Every season you need new socks and underwear, they both take a pounding! Spring/summer it's normally the lighter group's such as T-shirts and Polo shirts that need to be looked at first, bringing in some fresh seasonal colours.

Then there are the holiday or high summer pieces, shorts, swimmers, sunglasses & luggage, which although now used all year round probably spring to mind more during the summer. It may be any area of your wardrobe that needs review, a comfortable track suit or light weight jacket to travel in, some light weight knitwear, who knows.
