Trousers
Trousers are an increasingly difficult area in modern fashion. With so much competition in today's modern market, you have to ask the question, 'have they still got legs'. Joking aside, the humble men's trouser has taken a bit of a beating recently in the quest to cover men's legs.
Trousers or Jeans
The main culprit for their downfall has been the steady rise of jeans during the 20th century, to the point where they are perfectly acceptable in most situations, and now considered cool to be teamed with a suit jacket or blazer.
Re-inventing a Classic
In order to compete in this difficult, shrinking market the designers have had to 'up the ante' in an attempt to re-invent the trouser. This has been achieved by creating whole new types of casual pants with a more relaxed feel, using new fabrics, creating different finishes. In general casting the trouser as a more desirable premium product.
