The Evolution of the Polo Shirt

The designer Polo shirt we all know & love today started off life as a tennis shirt. Designed by the famous French tennis champion Rene Lacoste in the 1920's and put into production after his tennis career finished, the shirt was one of the first great sports wear/fashion crossovers, still worn today in tennis, branching out to other sports and adopted by people far and wide for casual wear. The shirt was then taken up by polo players & became known as a polo shirt.
