The ultra-cool collaboration between legendary Japanese fashion designer Yohji Yamamoto and sportswear uber-brand Adidas led to the launch of Y-3. The label launched in 2002, bursting onto the scene to much critical acclaim. The aim was to “[influence] the sports and fashion industry through innovative design and spotless craftsmanship”, and that has been achieved in no small measure.

The Y-3 name is derived from its two famous contributors, with the 'Y' representing Yamamoto and the '3' representing the iconic Three Stripes branding of German giant Adidas with the '-' linking the two together. This really is an inspired combination, the perfect blend of cutting edge fashion design and sportswear functionality. The label initially focussed on footwear, with a range of trainers which combined superb sports performance with a completely unique appearance.

The success of the footwear collection led to the apparel expansion of the label which now includes t-shirts, polo shirts, tracksuits, knitwear, trousers and outerwear, as well as a range of stylish accessories. The look incorporates clean lines and subtle colour combinations into a collection of sports-casual classics.

However, it is the signature trainers which continue to define the Y-3 brand, with their simple silhouettes and playful use of the three stripes logo within the design of the shoe. Superb new shapes, eye-catching colours and innovative use of fabrics create an unbeatable range which is irresistible to anyone with a love of cutting-edge fashion footwear.
