Diane Von Furstenberg is one of the most iconic names in fashion, having been designing and producing her eponymous collections since the early 1970s. Arriving in New York with a suitcase full of jersey shirt dresses, von Furstenberg quickly made her mark on the fashion scene, and shot to stardom after creating the wrap dress in 1974.
DVF – an evolving brand
Always looking for new challenges, Diane Von Furstenberg has had a diverse career, selling off her hugely successful cosmetics business in 1983 and opening a French publishing company, as well as creating a fashion range in the 1990s which sold exclusively through home shopping channels, generating a cool $40million. Despite being never less than massively successful in all her ventures, Von Furstenberg has always returned to her first love, fashion, and over the years the DVF range has expanded to include not only high fashion clothing but also accessories, shoes, scents and a home collection.
