Havaianas
Havaianas were originally created in 1962, inspired by the Zori, a traditional Japanese sandal with fabric straps and rice straw soles. The foot-bed of all modern Havaianas still retains a textured rice pattern.
Havaianas – the cool cult Brazilian sandals
By the 1990s the Havaianas collection had grown and they were producing a rainbow palette of twenty different colours, plus new prints and models, and even Havaianas for kids. In 1998 a new Havaianas model was introduced for the World Cup finals, with a small Brazilian flag on the strap. This soon became one of the most popular models, and continues to be at the heart of the collection.
Havaianas – a global success story
Originally only available in Brazil, Havaianas are now a global phenomenon, available in sixty countries, from some of the hippest shops in the world. From humble beginnings to a global cult brand, Havaianas are now the ultimate beach sandal.
