Vivienne Westwood
Vivienne Westwood has been delighting and shocking the fashion world since 1971 when she opened her first boutique on the King’s Road with her then-husband Malcolm McLaren. Her collaboration with McLaren continued throughout the 70s, with designs encompassing punk, rock, sex and pirate/new romantic looks. The 70's also saw her design punk clothing for influential punk band the Sex Pistols. She launched her first solo collection in 1982, and caused a sensation on the catwalks, shocking the chic Paris fashion establishment with her outrageous punky designs. Since then Westwood has become known as one of the most eccentric yet influential British fashion designers of our time.
Her designs are characterized by her love of traditional British styles and craftsmanship, with a modern, unusual twist. Her women’s collections are renowned for stylised corsetry and exquisite tailoring, with luxurious fabrics combined with flashes of traditional tartan, all stamped with the iconic Orb logo denoting the hand of the queen of British fashion.
